Want to learn some basic computer skills from social media to smart devices or just access the internet? Here are some activities for you!

 

Italian Women’s Computer Group

Learn basic techniques for using laptops and smart devices. Build your computer, internet, social media and smart devices skills for personal use and to stay in touch with friends and family overseas. Smart devices are not supplied.

Tuesdays: 9.30 am – 12.30 pm.

Computers and the Internet for Beginners

Build your skills from scratch in a relaxed environment with a supportive tutor. Learn the essentials of using a computer in this beginner course designed for people new to computers, who want to gain hands-on experience and confidence in a small class. Topics include- Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Internet and Email, and Multimedia. Get a great overview and the basic skills you need for home or office.

Thursdays: 9.30 pm – 12.30 pm.

Dates: February 21 – December 12 during school terms.

Level 2 Microsoft Office 

Our Microsoft Office Level 2 course is perfect for those who have a basic understanding of Microsoft software and want to develop their skills to the next level. This course offers a higher level of understanding of usage, direction, formulas, tables and more. This course is for those who want to expand their current knowledge for work or to look for new employment and is great on your resume. Basic computer skills required.

Introduction to Computers & the Internet for Seniors

A beginners’ course for older people with a relaxed approach that allows you to learn at your own pace with a supportive tutor. Build your skills from scratch with personal help to get started. Get real benefits from joining the “digital world”, including finding new friendships, building a support network, learning new things and having fun. Learn how to find information & service providers online; create new social networks and be intellectually stimulated.

Mondays: 10.00 am – 12.00 noon.

Dates: February 18 – December 9 during school terms.

Smart Devices for Seniors

Learn the basic techniques for using a range of the new touch screen devices including iPads, tablets, and smart phones. Bring your own device and build your skills & confidence with a supportive tutor. Computer skills not required. Smart devices are not supplied.

Thursdays: 1.00 pm – 3.00 pm.

Dates: February 21 – December 12 during school terms.

Public Access to Computers

The computer laboratory is open for Fawkner residents to use during the day when there are no computer classes. This includes access to the internet and a range of software.

Wednesdays & Fridays: 10.00 am – 3.00 pm.

Dates: February 20 – December 13 during school terms.

Create Your Own WordPress Website

Come along to this course and learn how to build and  websites that are both beautiful and functional. You will learn to build WordPress websites from start to finish, using best practice methods to ensure your creative intent is fully realised. The WordPress skills you will learn can also be applied to websites or blogs hosted by WordPress.com.

Tuesdays: 7.00 pm – 9.00 pm.

Dates: March 19 – December 10 during school terms.

Internet Access

The computer laboratory is open for Fawkner residents to use during the day. This includes high speed access to the Internet, a large range of software and printers.Even if you have a dial-up account at home sometimes to view a site or download updates, download large files or play online games; then high speed broadband is available when it is needed, without the high cost.

With 9 High Speed Internet modern computers available and two printers not only come to surf the internet, also use the numerous software packages to produce a school project, documents, write assignments, resumes for work or whenever a computer is needed.

NO COST. Monday and Thursdays: 10:00am – 4:30pm

  2. Hi Maggie,

    We have two new introductory classes starting at the end of this month: Computers – Getting Started and Computers for Seniors. If your student has little experience with IT they may also be interested in Level 1 computers.

    This semester all the IT classes are free. Give us a ring on 9357 4631 for more information.
