Making Boomerang Bags out of Recycled Material & other Craft
The course will be taking place from Wednesday 19th of July from 3.30pm-5.30pm for 4-6 weeks depending on interest at Fawkner Community House at 79 Jukes Rd., Fawkner.
What are boomerang bags?
Boomerang Bags is a community driven initiative tackling plastic pollution at the grassroots level. Dedicated schools, community groups, and volunteers get together to make reusable ‘Boomerang Bags‘ using recycled materials as a means to replace plastic bags.
Criteria: If you want to make the bags, anyone that can use a sewing machine, sew a straight line & has an interest in recycling but other people welcome to cut up material, iron bags and help with finishing.
Cost: Free but donations for materials and cottons gratefully received. Limited spaces as only a few machines but anyone can bring along their own machine.

‘Heart & Soul’ Community Choir
Come and join our community choir. Learn a wide range of songs and how to sing in harmony. No experience needed, just a desire to sing in a fun and supportive group.

Sewing Made Easy
This course is designed for beginners through to
advanced sewers and ranges from learning to use
machines and over lockers through to
altering commercial patterns to suit your
personal measurements. Make a skirt, dress,
suit jacket and pants, tee shirt or blouse.

Knitters’ Circle
The knitters’ Circle makes blankets, scarves, jumpers, beanies and socks for different charities and welcomes anyone who wants to volunteer to knit. All materials are provided by the group.

Traditional South Pacific Islands Basket Weaving
Learn the traditional, beautiful and complex craft of basket weaving from the South Pacific Islands. Using traditional materials such as pandanus fibre and coconut leaf start off with a small bag and move on to making more complex pieces.
